WHY USE A CHECK CHAIN? The design of a check chain is to tighten when pulled. This creates discomfort and therefore physically communicates to your dog the behaviour of pulling will equal an uncomfortable response. Apart from being one of the best training tools for pulling they are also great for any dog that gets startled easily as it is impossible to back out of a check chain.
HOW TO SIZE... The check chain will need to be big enough to slip over your dogs head. Please measure the widest part around your dogs head to ensure you select the correct size.
HOW TO POSITION... You will need to thread the chain through the ring before placing it over your dogs head. Check Chains need to be positioned at the very top of the neck (base of the skull) so that it does not place pressure against your dogs windpipe. The ring should sit to the side of the neck, closest to your walking hand e.g. if you walk with your right hand the ring will be on the left side of your dogs neck. The part of the chain connected to the lead needs to sit on top of the neck so the chain will tighten when pulled.
